SUMMARY:Wednesday Birders
DESCRIPTION:Wednesday Birders is a group of birders\, birding\, but not a traditional field trip with a named leader who always provides a guided field experience. Everyone helps everyone else\, shares\, learns and enjoys birding together. Usually some advanced birders are there and are so helpful.  All are welcomed. We carpool when possible. \nAs times vary from week to week\, please watch COBOL for details and times which are usually announced a few days prior to Wednesday. \nAll the locations are listed on our website. From the home page\, select Birding Resources\, and from the drop-down menu\, you can choose Birding by County where you will get a list of favorite birding places including directions to the spots and what birds you might hope to find. \nOne of the goals of Wednesday Birders is to encourage everyone to use the ECBA birding site guides and get used to using those directions and the “how to bird it” tips for the locations. Simply select the county and the hotspots are listed alphabetically. \nImportant Notes: \n\nPlease remember to read COBOL by Tuesday mornings for last minute details and changes to plans in case of adverse weather\, road conditions or detours\, bird news or better birding opportunities. Watch COBOL for meeting and carpooling times and places or for changes in the plan.\nCOBOL is Central Oregon Birders Online.  It’s free to join.\nRemember to dress for the weather. Be prepared with food\, sunscreen\, etc. and bring a pair of binoculars. Spotting scopes are helpful on many trips.\n\nFor questions and for more information contact: dukedt@gmail OR brian.macdonald9@gmail.com or brianmacdonald0458 in Discord

SUMMARY:Birders' Night: Ducks Unlimited Wetland Restoration for Wetland Habitat with Ashley Tunstall
DESCRIPTION:Ducks Unlimited Wetland Restoration for Wetland Habitat\n\n\nPlease join us August 13 to hear Ducks Unlimited (DU) Biologist Ashley Tunstall share some of the stories behind conserving one of North America’s most important migratory bird corridors. Spoiler alert: it takes a lot of great partners\, and a lot more than ducks to make it happen.\n\nAs DU’s regional biologist for Southeastern Oregon\, Tunstall works on the front lines of habitat restoration\, helping revive streams\, reconnect waterways\, and replace aging dams to bring new life to landscapes that wildlife and people depend on.\n\nThrough stories and photos from projects across the region\, you’ll get an inside look at how healthy wetlands and rivers support migratory birds\, fish\, and entire ecosystems\, and why protecting them matters to all of us.\n\n“This job would not be possible without a village that prioritizes this work for all wildlife\,” Tunstall said. ” Our relationships with local communities and natural resource professionals are crucial to seeing quality conservation work come to fruition.”\n\nWhile the results can be transformative\, conservation is a team effort. Learn how partnerships among landowners\, conservation groups\, agencies\, and local communities are helping restore habitat at a scale that makes a lasting difference.\n\nThe program begins at 6 p.m.\, but please come early to enjoy good food and conversation and a few beverages. There is typically a nice group there by 5:00pm or so.  Seating is first come\, first serve. Birders’ Night programs are free and open to the public.  Please note that parking can sometimes be a bit tight so you might want to budget some extra time getting to the event.\n\n\nAnd Worthy Brewing offers a nice Happy Hour Menu from 3-5pm (note that it recently changed to end at 5pm rather than 6pm).  Their regular menu is still solid and not unreasonable.  See here for their food and beverage menus: https://worthybrewing.com/pub
