Habitat and Birds

At this location the Crooked River cuts through an impressive gorge providing habitat for Nesting Golden Eagles, Prairie Falcons, Rock & Canyon Wrens, and White-throated Swifts. The riparian habitat is good for migrants and sparrows in the winter. In recent years small flocks of Gray-crowned Rosy-Finches have been seen close to the canyon walls in winter and the river is a good location to find Barrow’s Goldeneye and Dipper.
