Habitat and Birds

This is a very small maintained wayside/picnic area with green watered lawn and shade trees surrounded by dry, brushy hillsides right along Hwy. 19.  In summer look for Bullock’s Oriole, Yellow-Breasted Chat, Lazuli Bunting, Western Wood-Peewee, Say’s Phoebe, Ash-Throated and Gray Flycatchers, Western Kingbird and various swallows. In spring/fall look for Yellow-Rumped Warbler, Western Tanager, Orange-Crowned and MacGillivray’s warblers. In winter, Mountain Chickadee, Varied and Hermit Thrush, Dark-Eyed Junco, Pine Siskin, finches, Townsend’s Solitaire, White and Golden-Crowned Sparrows. Cooper’s, Red-Tailed and Rough-Legged hawks have been seen here as well.
