Lakeshore, lodgepole pine forest, and mixed conifer forest.
Lake – Killdeer, Common Nighthawk, Spotted Sandpiper and Osprey in summer. Common Merganser, Western Grebe, California Gull, and Bald Eagle in summer and fall. Ducks, especially Bufflehead, and Pied-billed, Horned, Red-necked, and Eared Grebes in fall. Least Sandpiper, Red-necked Phalarope, Greater Yellowlegs, Bonaparte’s Gull, Ring-billed Gull, Caspian Tern, and Pacific and Common Loons found less frequently.
Forest – Canada and Steller’s Jays, Mountain Chickadee, Red-breasted Nuthatch, Dark-eyed Junco, and Yellow-rumped Warbler expected late spring through fall. Clark’s Nutcracker, Chestnut-backed Chickadee, Golden-crowned Kinglet, Pine Siskin, Chipping Sparrow, and Western Tanager present but less regular. Varied and Hermit Thrush late fall and early spring. Hairy Woodpecker, Chestnut-backed Chickadee, Cassin’s Finch, and Red Crossbill found infrequently.
