Check out the https://bandon.com/for-the-birders website by Steve and Susan Dimock. They own the La Kris Inn in Bandon which is a great place to stay as they are local birders and bird photographers.
DirectionsHabitat and Birds
As you travel along the boat basin and old docks, watch for resting shorebirds and waders, gull wads, loons, pelicans and the like. Behind the Coast Guard facility and heading west check for roosting “rockpipers” at high tide. Look for both Black and Ruddy Turnstones here, and in winter Rock Sandpiper. During migration, watch for godwits, Willet, and Whimbrel. Drive out to the end of the road and check the river mouth for water birds, and sea ducks. Pish the brushy deciduous areas along Beach Loop Rd. for passerines. There is a good overlook behind Face Rock Hotel for scanning off shore rocks and the ocean. There is a city park in Bandon with a good variety of passerines and woodpeckers, with a view of the ocean.
