Crissey Field State Recreation Site – Oregon Welcome Center

Location

Crissey Field State Recreation Site and Welcome Center is located just 0.2 mile north of the Oregon/California border on Highway 101. From Brookings at Highway 101 and 5th Street, travel 6.0 miles south on Hwy 101. Turn right (west) just after crossing the Winchuck River Bridge into the Recreation Area access road which leads to the parking loop. Here is access to the south side of the river mouth, 0.5 mile long beach and a 0.2 mile accessible nature trail. Winchuck State Recreation Site allows Winchuck River mouth access on the north side of the river. From Crissey Field State Recreation Site turn left (north) onto Highway 101 and travel 0.5 miles north. The entrance is on the left (west) just after crossing the Winchuck River Bridge. There is a small parking area where you can overlook the river mouth or access the beach north of the river at low tide. Winchuck River Road accesses points further inland in this area. Travel 0.7 miles north on Hwy 101 from Crissey Field State Recreation Area. Turn right (east) onto Winchuck River Road. Travel 1.0 miles and look for a wide spot to pull off on the right. Here are Winchuck Ponds. In another 0.5 miles you will come to the junction with Peavine Ridge Road. Turn right to cross the bridge over the Winchuck River. Follow Peavine Ridge Road/NF-1101 for 3.9 miles to the end.
