The forests are also home for six species of woodpecker, including Acorn, and Pileated Woodpecker. In the spring, expect Orange-crowned, Black-throated Gray, Hermit, and Wilson’s Warbler, along with Western Tanager, Black-headed Grosbeak, and Lazuli Bunting. Chipping and White-crowned Sparrows may be found in the grasslands through the summer. Early in the year, Northern Pygmy, Barred, and Northern Saw-whet Owls may be heard.
