Take I-5 exit 136 in Sutherlin and drive west for 1.3 miles on Hwy 138 to Church Rd. Turn left on Church Rd for 0.2 miles. Park at pull-off; good place to scope from. Also check out the small pond on the east side of Church Rd (local name is Chevy Pond). At the top of the hill is a parking lot and bathroom. A trail which is paved about halfway, surrounds the pond. Going west from Church rd. on Hwy 138 take the second small road to the left which leads to another parking lot and trail access

Habitat: large pond, small marshy pond, brush, riparian, fields.
Birds: large variety and numbers of waterfowl in winter, raptors, rails, nesting Tricolored Blackbirds (historically), Black Phoebe, American white pelican variety of passerines. Best birding: Sept-Apr
