Location
From 1st Street in Wallowa, head east and leave town on Whiskey Creek Road. Go 1.6 miles (past Hill Road and the cemetery) and turn right on Jim Town Road. Stay on this road for 7.7 miles to Lostine and back to Hwy 82.
DirectionsHabitat and Birds
This road winds through farmland and brushy fence rows. Primarily, this is a winter destination and sparrows are the major quarry. However, Bobolinks are a possibility in the area during the summer months. Keep an eye out for Gray Partridge coming off the scrubby hillsides. Swainson’s Hawk can be found here in summer. There are some riparian areas near the end of this loop and Gray Catbird is a possibility. In winter, search the power lines and bare trees for Northern Shrike.
