Location
Located 9 miles east of Riley and 15 miles west of Burns, this public rest stop is a great place to get out and stretch your legs after the long drive from Central Oregon. The scenic and well-maintained nature trail here is often productive. The trail, a 0.6-mile loop, starts and ends near the SW corner of the parking area.

Look for Brewer’s Sparrow, Sage Thrasher, Gray Flycatcher, and cavity-nesting birds, which all nest in the sagebrush and open juniper forest here. 18 bird boxes in the immediate area host Mountain Bluebird, Mountain Chickadee, Tree Swallow, Northern Flicker, and American Kestrel.
