Location
From the center of Wallowa go west on 1st Street which becomes Upper Diamond Lane (45.570228,-117.542510). Take this road west then north to continue on Lower Diammond Lane. Cross the Wallowa River and stop at a pull-out on the right. This provides access to view the river from the bridge and to a ODF&W wildlife area with a pond. A short distance further puts you back on Hwy 82.

On this route in the winter check the surrounding trees for Bald Eagles and other raptors. In summer check fields and fences for Bobolinks, Western Kingbirds, and Wilson’s Snipe.
