Location
Mann Lake, east of Steens Mountain, is the largest of the playa lakes in the Alvord Valley. Located on BLM land 90 miles southeast of Burns or 40 miles north of Fields, take the Fields-Denio Road. Look for the lake on the west side of the road.

Like many water features in the dry southeast part of our state, this lake is an oasis amid dryness and salt flats. White Pelican, American Avocet, Black-necked Stilt, peeps, and ducks all occupy this lake in summer. Blackbirds and raptors are abundant here as well. Grebes ply the waters and terns cruise the surface in search for food.
