Habitat and Birds

Explore the riparian habitat at this junction from the bridge over the creek on NF 47 and to the west along the creek. This thick patch of willows can harbor just about any migrant and can be very productive as the birds use Emigrant Creek to guide their way into the mountains. Spotted Towhee and Northern Flicker are abundant and Bushtit can be seen here.

Continue west along Emigrant Creek Road for a few miles, stopping wherever there is good habitat.

10 miles farther up Emigrant Creek Rd (NF-43), the small Emigrant Campground has mature ponderosa pines. The campground is a convenient launching point for a further trip to take in the panoramic views at the top of Snow Mountain.
