Location

From Hood River, take Hwy 281 SW for 11 miles to the community of Dee. From Dee, take Lost Lake Road about 15 miles to the lake.

Habitat and Birds

This beautiful mountain lake at the base of Mt. Hood is surrounded by mixed forest of mostly Douglas fir. Birds you might see here include Barrow’s Goldeneye, Common Merganser, Sooty Grouse, Green Heron, Spotted Sandpiper, woodpeckers (Hairy, Black-backed, American Three-toed, Pileated), Gray Jay, Clark’s Nutcracker, Chestnut-backed Chickadee, Townsend’s Solitaire, Swainson’s Thrush, Varied Thrush, warblers (Hermit, MacGillivray’s, Wilson’s), and Red Crossbill.
