Location

Airport Park Website Take Hwy 18 east out of McMinneville. Travel 2.0 miles east of the Yamhill River and turn right (south) on SE Armory Way. (this is directly across from the Evergreen Aviation and Space Museum). This is a great wooded nature park next to the Airport, with two loop trails, a creek, bridges, benches, picnic tables and a port-a-potty. Behind the aviation museum there is an oak woods with a loop trail.

Directions

Habitat and Birds

Expect forest species like Spotted Towhee, Black-capped Chickadees, Red-breasted Nuthatches, Swainson’s Thrushes, Bewick’s and Pacific Wren, Brown Creeper, Downy Woodpecker, Purple Finch. A Black-and- white Warbler was found here once. It is the best place to look for a Nashville Warbler in the spring. Cooper’s Hawks and Great Horned Owls have nested in the park. A walk out the back of the woods allows views of the airport where one might see raptors, including Short-eared Owls at dusk in the fall.
