Location

From the east side of Springfield, take Hwy 126 east for about 42 miles to the little town of McKenzie Bridge (sometimes just called McKenzie).  Stay on Hwy 126 for about 0.25 miles past the town, go over the McKenzie River, and turn right on Horse Creek Road (NF 2638).  Drive 1.7 miles and take a slight right on NF 1993.  Drive for 8.6 miles to the Horse Pasture Trailhead.  You can take the trail up to Horse Pasture Mountain for some spectacular views.  Horse Pasture Trail Map

Go to the Oregon Birding Trails website.  http://www.oregonbirdingtrails.org/ Choose the Cascades Birding Trail. Click on the “trail guide” and choose the Three Sisters Loop Guide. Section 92.

Habitat and Birds

This is a 2.8 mile round-trip trail to the top of Horsepasture Mtn (5660′) with good views from the top and wildflowers in the meadows during the spring.  Birds are typical conifer forest species.
